The next Star Wars movie is going to be called "Episode II: Attack of the Clones".
God damn, that is one bad title. It sucks donkey dick and I feel stupider after reading it.
I guess the plot isn't much of a mystery anymore, oh, and Jar Jar Binks will definately be returning, along with supposedly memorable characters like "Dexter Jettsetter" and "Elian Sleazebaggano". No, I'm serious.

The primary purpose of Star Wars now is as a two hour show reel for all the latest merchandise. That's why the tosser is shooting on video; I mean, would you waste perfectly good 35mm film on a f*cking advertisment?!?

Digital film actually and yes that is a bit of a wank title lacking in imagination, however I love all the star wars films and seeing that the old menace is in the top ten in world, European and USA all time biggest ever grossing films I think a lot of other people do too.
After all be honest most people watch films to past the time or for a little escapism, filmmakers tend to watch films for more reasons than that.

He's shooting on Sony HD *video* cameras because he doesn't want to go to the trouble and expense of scanning the film, so he can scrawl over every frame with his piss-poor computer graphics.
No such thing as "digital" film. It's an analogue medium by definition.
>> however I love all the star wars films
What, even Return of the Jedi?!? The only people I know who actually like that piece of shite all have learning difficulties.

All that proves is there are too many morons in the world. Anyway, they were probably all recidivists and pederasts. I'm pretty sure Star Wars 2 will take less at the box office that Phathom.

Somehow I doubt that, Austin. Simply having the words "Star" and "Wars" placed together in the title means top ten, no questions asked.

Where is "The Cavity" ? Is it in your head? Jedi took less than the original Star Wars. I think Empire may have taken less also. So it's very likely "Attack of the Colognes" will take less than Phantom, especially considering what a pile of unwatchable shit Phantom was.
Of course, I could be totally wrong and all the suckers will line up at the cinema, lubed up, ready for another shafting by Lucas.

Of course Phantom Menace was a bad movie. Hell, it was probably one of the most childish movies I have ever seen. But that didn't hide the fact that you couldn't walk past a movie theater without seeing a shanty town populated by Star Wars fans waiting to buy a ticket to go into a movie to see the Phantom Menace trailer, then walk out and go to the back of the line to wait another two weeks to get thier ticket for the actual movie, 2 years before it actually opened. Are you blind?

People who do that are obviously just hanging around cinemas in the hope of getting near to da kiddies. The fact is, the next Star Turd from the Lucas exhaust pipe won't take as much as the Phantom, regardless of the merits of that movie. Otherwise, how do explain Jedi not being in the top ten?
By the way, if I were Lucas I have that fucker McGregor knee-capped for slagging off Clones a year before it's even been released. Talk about loyalty. Still, what can you expect from a f*cking Scot?

Sigh...these discussions just aint the same without foolmaster...I guess the thing to remember is that Star Wars are kids movies, but most people enjoy a good adventure. Lucas said that ep 2 would not do so well because it is basically a love story...but I am surprised he did'nt take the hint about binks...I'm all for standing by your principles, but if I created a charachter so universally hated, I'd take him out and save myself all the computer generated hassle, and make the fans happy...
The title is dissapointingly feeble.

Okay I'll flow for a sec on this one...The Phantom Menace was a roll-yor-eyes flick, for 90% of the film, but the other 10 was a visual masterpiece.
The Star Wars franchise has never been about making a sci-fi wonder like 2001, it's been about the good guys winning and the visual milestones along the way.
Look at ANH or ROTJ, childish, yet thrilling. Lighten up and enjoy the visuals...Lucas is a gifted filmmaker...just not a good titlist.
